Sherwin Earl Patton

Sherwin Earl Patton, 78, of rural Pittsburg, passed away at 12:40 a.m. Monday, October 30, 2023, at Via Christi Village after a short illness.

He was born February 6, 1945, in Girard, Kansas, the son of Earl and Helen Mary (Kluska) Patton. He graduated from College High in Pittsburg and later from Kansas State Teachers College (now PSU), being the first one in his family to graduate from college.

In 1967, he was united in marriage to Glenda “Kay” James in Havana, Kansas. They moved to Bartlesville, where they lived for thirty-eight years, before moving back to the Pittsburg area in 2008.

Mr. Patton worked for Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville, until he retired and moved to Pittsburg to operate the family farm, which he had always wanted to do. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching NASCAR, and tinkering and fixing things around the farm.

He is survived by his wife, Kay of the home; two sons, Jon Patton and his wife, Christina of Highland Village, Texas, their children, Madison, Nicholas, Cameron, and Connor Patton; and Brad Patton and his wife, Angie of St. Peters, Missouri, their children, Eric and Jake Patton; one daughter, Andrea Jacobs and her husband, Jerod of Bixby, Oklahoma and their son, Aiden Jacobs; a sister, Patti Nicoletti and her husband, John of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two sisters-in-law, whom he was very close to, Sue Paddock and Marilyn Smith, and several nieces and nephews.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg, KS.
