Nancy Ellen Briggs, 89, of Pittsburg, Kansas, gained her wings at 5:50 p.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at Via Christi Village.
Nancy was born in Pittsburg to Raymond Guy Briggs and Theresia Lynn Schultz Briggs on October 3, 1933. Nancy attended school in Pittsburg all through her life and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1951.
She soon married Richard Eugene Edwards, and they had four children. They divorced after 26 years of marriage.
Nancy later married William (Bill) Lashbrook on August 15, 1980. They later divorced.
Nancy's first job was working part-time for a lawyer in San Diego, California. She left there to pursue being a full-time mother and a Navy wife of 20 years.
Nancy was an amazing mother and friend. She always had a smile and a hug.
Later, when Nancy returned to Pittsburg, she attended Columbus Vo-Tech School and became a Bank Teller for Roosevelt Bank and First Federal Savings and Loan. After doing that for 10 years, she became Head Teller and a Loan Advisor until her first retirement in 2006. A couple years later, she returned part-time to SEK-CAP of Pittsburg, then 4 years later went on to work part-time for the SKIL office as a secretary until finally retiring for good at 73.
Nancy leaves behind her four children, Pamela Sue Heenan, Russell Evan Edwards, Teri Lynn Edwards-Hall and her husband John, all of Pittsburg, and Sharon Westpfahl and her husband Bill, of Mount Vernon, Missouri; twelve grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and seven great,-great-grandchildren.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Theresia Briggs; two brothers, Bobby Ray Briggs and Donald Perry Briggs; two daughters-in-law, Donna Edwards and Cindy Prince; and a great-grandson, Jonathan Dale Long.
The family will announce a Celebration of Life at a later date.
