Man shot, killed outside Pittsburg bar

PITTSBURG, Kan. — Law enforcement officers from the Pittsburg Police Department, along with first responder units from Pittsburg Fire Department and Crawford County EMS, were dispatched to 202 N. Locust St., in Pittsburg, in reference to a report of a shooting incident at approximately 1:15 a.m. the morning of Sunday, Aug. 20. Upon arrival, units found that an adult male, identified as 36-year-old Justin E. Krogen, of Pittsburg, had been shot outside of a local bar, and had subsequently died as a result of his injuries.

Krogen's body was sent to Kansas City for an autopsy.

This incident is currently under investigation and as of press time no arrests have been made. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is assisting. Investigators believe this to be an isolated incident, and believe it may have stemmed from an argument.

PPD on Sunday evening posted several pictures on their Facebook page, requesting assistance from the public in identifying the individuals photographed. Major Ben Henderson confirmed that the people in the photos were possible witnesses to the crime and that investigators needed to interview them.

On Monday, PPD thanked the public for assisting them via their Facebook page and stated that no further assistance was needed in identifying the individuals.
