Lucille M. Simon

Lucille M. Simon, 96, of Frontenac, Kansas, passed on November 12, 2023. She was born in Frontenac, Kansas on January 3, 1927 to Enrico and Katherine Vincenti Moriconi.

She graduated from Frontenac High School in 1945 and then attended K.S.T.C. (now PSU) for one year.

When her husband to be, Floyd Simon returned from the Army Air Corps in 1946, they married and she became a homemaker and worked as a Crawford County deputy assessor for eighteen years. She also worked seven years at the Bowlus Sporting Goods store in Pittsburg.

She was a strong and enthusiastic leader of the Frontenac United Methodist Church and generously gave of her time assisting with chicken noodle dinners and funeral luncheons while serving as the membership secretary for thirty years. She also served for many years as secretary of the Frontenac Post 43 American Legion Auxilary. In 1965, she helped start and organize the first high school reunion and later, in 1965, the first homecoming in 1986.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2016; parents; four brothers-in-law, Pete, Bill and Roy Moriconi; and one sister, Leda Tassi.

Survivors include three sons, John Simon and wife Connie of Port Allen, LA, Tony Simon and wife Jeanette of Arma, KS, and Bob Simon and wife Barbara of Tyler, TX; six grandchildren, Mike and Matt Simon, Steven Simon, Suzanne (Simon) Collins, and Robert and Lindsay Simon; six great-grandchildren Ryan and Avery Simon, Brenden and Colten Collins, Jordan and Gino Simon.

The family requests memorials to be made to the Old Glory Fund, Frontenac American Legion Post #43.

The visitation will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023 at the Frontenac Methodist Church from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by funeral services at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetary.
