Katherine Susan Girth 68, of Pittsburg, KS died at 1:26 am Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at the Credo Memory Care in Ft. Scott, KS following a long illness.
Kathy was born January 16, 1955 in Girard, KS, the daughter of Anthony T. and Bernice A. (Davis) Russell.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Frontenac High School. On July 27, 1979 Kathy married James A. Girth in Miami, OK; he preceded her in death on November 22, 2006.
Kathy worked for Kansas Gas Service for 38 years in various positions retiring as a leak inspector.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a member of Weir Saddle Club, Crawford County Saddle Club, a 4-H member, and a Girl Scout member. She enjoyed spending time at Pickled Pete's Bar and Grill, bowling, riding horses, playing Bunco, spending time with friends, and girl trips.
Survivors include Amanda Lefevre and husband Robbie of Bronaugh, MO; Dr. Jennifer Girth-Chism and husband Coy of Pittsburg, KS; Doug Girth and wife Rita of Frontenac, KS; Tenna Lero of Frontenac, KS; and Dana Curtiss and husband Paul of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren, Ava Lefevre, Rylinn Barnow, Brynnley Barnow, Nicole Girth, Ana Fancher, Tyler Lero, Nicholas Curtiss, Lucas Curtiss, Bo Chism, and Hadleigh Chism; great-grandchildren, Beckett Fancher and Luca Fancher.
Kathy was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at the Friskel Funeral Home in Frontenac, KS with Fr. Robert McElwee officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Frontenac, KS. Family will receive friends from 6-7:00 pm Monday, April 24, 2023 at the Friskel Funeral Home. Friends may call after 3:00 pm Monday.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to the ALS Association.
