John Robert Defreese, 74, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away on February 27, 2023, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO.
John was born on August 24, 1948, to Carl Robert and Evaun Virginia (Hutchison) Defreese in Lamar, MO.
On March, 21, 1987 he was united in marriage to Coleen Maffei at Sheldon, MO. She survives of the home. John worked for AZZ Incorporated and Avail Enclosure Systems for 15 years. He also enjoyed golfing and fishing.
In addition to his wife Coleen, he is survived by a son, Colten Defreese of Pittsburg, KS; three stepbrothers, Danny Chapman of Sheldon, MO, Darrell Chapman and his wife, Debra of Nevada, MO, and Don Chapman and his wife Geri of Webb City, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepmom Dorothy Lee Defreese.
A parish rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 2, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 3, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Andrew Labenz as celebrant. Burial will follow at the McCune City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg, KS.
