Jimmy L. Johnson, 82, of Pittsburg, formerly of Girard, KS, passed away at 9:09 p.m., Wednesday, August 19, 2023, at the Arma Health and Rehab.
He was born in Pittsburg, to James and Ruth (Plumlee) Johnson.
On May 22, 1964, he was united in marriage to Darlene D. Cabodie at Pittsburg. She preceded him in death on April 10, 2021.
Mr. Johnson worked for the City of Girard.
Membership was held in the TOPS KS 0599. He was a former member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Pittsburg.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Spurling (Terry) of rural Pittsburg, KS, Michelle Johnson (John) of Frontenac, KS; and four grandchildren, Ethan Spurling (Andrea), Eli Spurling, Ty Spurling and Tabor Smalley (Gwen).
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, Rex and Babe Johnson; and three sisters, Lue Brecht, Helen Lamb, and Barbara Brecht.
A service for Mr. Johnson will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg, with Reverend Jim Sukraw officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Pittsburg. The family suggests memorials to the SEK Humane Society.
