Frederick "Fred" Bruce Angwin, 84, of Springfield, Missouri passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at his home. A native of Pittsburg, Kansas, he was born to the late Maynard Ward and Marjorie Coles Angwin.

Fred was a proud graduate of Pittsburg High School Class of 1956. He majored in Design and Drafting and graduated with a BS Degree in Industrial Technology from Kansas State Teachers College, now Pittsburg State University. Fred was proud to be a US Army Veteran, having been honorably discharged in 1965.

The early skills Fred learned working at a lumber company in Pittsburg provided the foundation to work as a project manager for McNally Pittsburg and Montgomery Ward. Fred completed his working career as an architectural draftsman for several major Architectural firms in Springfield. Although in the beginning, Fred drew by hand, he was one of the first draftsmen to use the computer.

Never meeting a stranger, Fred enjoyed greeting, visiting, and staying in touch with people. Through his interest in photography, he recorded people, their celebrations, and events. He generously shared these prints that captured memories. He telephoned, sent thoughtfully chosen cards, and wrote letters to stay in touch. Fred willingly helped others whether asked or observed and thought needed. Through these friendships, we remember Fred and what he meant to each of us.

Fred is survived by his sisters Mitzi O'Hara of San Angelo, Texas, and Susie Heflin (Ron) of Richardson, Texas; nephews: Rogge Heflin (Brenda) of Richardson, Texas, and Brodie Heflin (Briana) of Fort Worth, Texas; three great-nephews and one great-niece. He is also survived by many cherished friends.

In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his stepmother Mary Deane Angwin and brother-in-law Jim O'Hara.

A memorial service celebrating Fred's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Maranatha Chapel, 233 E. Norton Road, Springfield, MO 65803, with Chaplain Shawn Oberg officiating. Military service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Road, Springfield, MO 65804.
