Francis (Frank) (Buck) Wynne Masters, III

Francis (Frank) (Buck) Wynne Masters, III, 73, of Pittsburg, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2023 in Edmond, Oklahoma. 

Frank was born May 3, 1950 in Rochester, New York, to Dr. Francis (Frank) Wynne Masters, II and Eleanor (Jean) Cooper Masters. He was the oldest of 3 children. Frank attended Pembroke Day High School, and graduated from Shawnee Mission East High School in Prairie Village, Kansas in 1968.Frank attended college at Southern Methodist University from 1968-1970, and then transferred to the University of Kansas where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1973, and a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 1978. In 1978, Frank was asked to join the Phi Chi Medical Fraternity. He went on to attend the University of Missouri Kansas City where he received his Master's in Pharmaceutical Science, with an emphasis in Hospital and Pharmacy Administration in 1985. 

On May 28, 1976, he married the love of his life, Cindy (Sifers) Masters, at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Iola, Kansas. The couple settled in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, where Frank worked as a Senior Hospital Pharmacist & Clinical Instructor at Truman Medical Center. While residing in Kansas City, the couple welcomed their two daughters, Kelly and Amy. In 1985, the Masters family relocated to Pittsburg, Kansas, where Frank became the Director of Pharmacy at Mount Carmel Medical Center. It is in Pittsburg where the couple raised their girls and supported the local schools (Pittsburg High School Purple Dragons & Pittsburg State Gorillas).

In Pittsburg, the couple was involved in their church (St. Peter's Episcopal), and Frank served on the Vestry and was a Lector on Sundays.

After 30 years, Frank retired as the Director of Pharmacy of Mount Carmel in 2014. In his spare time, Frank enjoyed playing guitar, fishing, boating, and spending summer holidays with their girls (and their families) at Grand Lake. He was an avid sports fan, and loved cheering on the Kansas Jayhawks, Kansas City Chiefs, and Kansas City Royals. 

He was a lifetime member of the Episcopal Church, where he was confirmed and has served throughout his lifetime.

Frank is survived by his beloved children, Kelly Anne Masters-Newton and husband Preston of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Amy Marie Masters and partner Philip of Denver, Colorado; their beloved grandchildren, Eleanor, Rex and Lila Newton; his sister, Pam Masters Appenfeller and husband Greg of Leawood, Kansas; sister-in-law, Maggie Masters of Olathe, Kansas; and countless other family and friends that will miss him dearly. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, and his brother, Robert Randall (Randy) Masters.

A visitation will be held from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday (Aug. 25th) at the Brenner Mortuary. A Memorial Service is scheduled at 11:00 AM on Saturday (Aug. 26th) at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Pittsburg, Kansas, with a graveside service to follow in the Highland Cemetery in Iola, Kansas, at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Frank's name to St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Pittsburg, Kansas. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg, KS.
