Edward L. Sartore

Edward L. Sartore, 81, of Findlay, Ohio passed away at 10:02 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Birchaven Retirement Village.

Ed was born on December 17, 1941 in Franklin, Kansas to the late Edward and Marie (Delplace) Sartore. Ed graduated with a BS degree in Mathematics from Kansas State College of Pittsburg. Ed earned an MS in Computer Science from the University of Missouri at Rolla as part of the Army ROTC program. After graduation, he fought in the Vietnam War and achieved the rank of First Lieutenant. After his military service, he began his 30+ year career with Marathon Oil Company, retiring as an Advanced Senior Remote Computer Analyst.

He married Janice J. Tyner on October 11, 1969 in Findlay, Ohio and she survives in North Baltimore. Ed also leaves behind two children, Lee (Krista) Sartore of Franklin, Tennessee, and Connie (Kim) So of Grandview, Missouri; three grandchildren, Abby Sartore, Mary So, and Lillian So; a sister, Sandra (Henry) Christman of Arma, Kansas; and a nephew, Paul (Amy) Christman of Pittsburg, Kansas.

Ed was a member of Journey at Christ Church in Findlay. He was also involved in the University of Findlay Curtain Raisers, the ROMEO club, and he worked the polls for Hancock County elections. He had a love of music; he played trombone in high school, marched with the Pitt State Pride of the Plains marching band, and later listened to his favorite group, Canadian Brass. He was an avid Ohio State football fan. He enjoyed gardening and canning the fruits of his labor. He cherished visits with his grandchildren and enjoyed daily visits with his wife at Briar Hill Nursing home, whose staff was like family to him.

Visitation will be held at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, 500 Lima Avenue in Findlay, on Friday, March 3, 2023 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Journey at Christ Church, 225 West Bigelow Avenue, Findlay, Ohio 45840, beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2023 with the Reverend Trevor Wright officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
