Dorothy Mae Campbell, 96, of Pittsburg, KS, died on November 8, 2023, at Pittsburg Care and Rehab.
She was born April 13, 1927, in Lancaster, MO, the daughter of Ervin and Cora Catherine (Tompkins) Homrighous.
Dorothy was a high school graduate from Nevada High School in Nevada, MO.
On May 19, 1947, she married Donald Gene Campbell. He preceded her in death.
Dorothy was a fixture at Pitt State University, where she proudly served as a baker in the school cafeteria for many years. Her warm smile and welcoming presence brightened the lives of many students who crossed her path.
She cherished her time with family above all else. Whether it was spending quality time with her loved ones, embarking on exciting adventures, or coming together for family reunions, her family was a blessing.
One of Dorothy's favorite pastimes was taking trips with family members. Whether traveling with her sisters to Reno to indulge in a bit of excitement and gambling, trips to Oregon, or taking a train ride to the Grand Canyon, these trips allowed her to enjoy life's little pleasures and create lasting memories with her family.
Survivors include eight children: Janet (Jim) Steele of Pittsburg, KS, Don Campbell of Friendswood, TX, Debbie (Lewis) Allen of Ozark, MO, Kathy Hallacy of Pittsburg, KS, Kenny Campbell of Pittsburg, KS, Tim (Suzy) Campbell of Victoria, TX, Rhonda (Ray) Phillips of Ozark, MO, and Glenda Campbell of Pittsburg, KS; 18 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son, and son Randy Campbell; three sisters, Kay Pierce, Betty Palmer, and Frieda Leer; two brothers, Billy Homrighous, and Harry Homrighous.
Funeral Services were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 13, 2023, at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg. Burial followed at the Highland Park Cemetery.
