OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (AP) _ Compass Minerals International Inc. (CMP) on Tuesday reported a loss of $6.9 million in its fiscal fourth quarter.
The Overland Park, Kansas-based company said it had a loss of 20 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 1 cent per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 17 cents per share.
The minerals producer posted revenue of $249.4 million in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $227 million.
For the year, the company reported a loss of $24.5 million, or 73 cents per share, swinging to a loss in the period. Revenue was reported as $1.24 billion.
