Charles W. Morris, 77, of Arma, Kansas died at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Medicalodges of Pittsburg in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Mr. Morris was born July 30, 1946, in Arcadia, Kansas the son of Charles F. and Susie A. Garrett Morris.
Charles was a retired coal miner who was a supervisor for Jim Walters Coal Mine #5 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He was raised in Arcadia and graduated from Arcadia High School, the Class of 1964. He later attended Computer School in Kansas City, Missouri. He also worked as a draftsman for McNally’s in Pittsburg. He retired in 2003 and moved to Arma.
He served in the Army National Guard. He was a member of the Arcadia Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Charlotte Foust of Ft. Scott, Kansas, and Joyce (Junior) Turner of Arma, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Larry Morris, and a sister, Virginia Coonrod.
Mr. Morris has been cremated according to his wishes. Graveside services for the cremains will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 16, 2023, at the Sheffield Cemetery near Arcadia, with the Rev. Steve Cole officiating.
