Billie Jo "BJ" Gore passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at her home in Wellington, Kansas at the age of 70. She was born the daughter of William and Eunice (Jones) Humble on March 1, 1952 in Pittsburg, Kansas. BJ graduated from College High School in Pittsburg, Kansas. Following high school, she continued her education at Kansas State College of Pittsburg, earning her Bachelors and Masters degrees.
On August 3, 1973, BJ and Donald L. Gore II were united in marriage in Pittsburg, Kansas. Together they celebrated 15 years of marriage before his passing in 1989. The couple began their family with a daughter, Michael Jo, and a son, Donny. The family eventually relocated to South Central Kansas in the early 1980s to pursue work opportunities. BJ was employed in the HR Department of Cessna Aircraft for several years before beginning her career in social services. She started at Sumner County Mental Health Center before moving on to the Kansas Children's Service League, where she became a director and eventually retired following a 15-year career helping children and families across the state.
Survivors include her daughter, Michael Jo Jensen (Shane) of Eagleville, Tennessee; son, Donny Gore (Shawnna) of Wellington, Kansas; grandchildren, Carly Jo Gore of Eagleville, Tennessee, Cameron Jo Gore and Quaid Gore of Wellington, Kansas; cousin, Robbie Hunt of Pittsburg, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister-cousin, Jo Nita Hunt, and an aunt, Vinita Jones.
Following cremation, the family will hold private services at a later time.
