Beverly Joeen Wilson

Beverly Joeen Wilson passed away Thursday, August 3, 2023 at the Girard Medical Center.

Beverly was born in Scammon, Kansas on September 29, 1936 to John Leroy Jr. and Mary Devlin Leroy of Scammon, Kansas. She attended Scammon Grade School and graduated from Columbus High School in 1954. Beverly attended Mt. Carmel School of Nursing, graduating in September 1957. On September 22, 1957 she married Raymond Eugene "Willie" Wilson at the Scammon Presbyterian Church. They moved to Girard, Kansas where Beverly was a registered nurse at the Girard Hospital, later worked for Dr. Wesley Hall, and retired as a Headstart nurse for SEK-CAP. 

She was a member of the former First Presbyterian Church of Girard.

Survivors include daughter, Mary Joeen Burns of Girard, son, Scott Eugene (Beth) Wilson of Girard; grandchildren, Adam (Brandy) Burns of Eudora, Kansas, Maria (Chris) Walczak of Portland, Oregon, Eric Wilson of Corpus Christi, Texas, Heidi Burns of Lawrence, Kansas, and Seth Wilson of Girard; great-grandchildren Ansley Burns and Lennon Burns of Eudora, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother John Leroy III, and son-in-law George Michael Burns.

Known as "Granmomma" to her family, she loved attending her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's sporting events and activities. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling and spending time at the family's cabin at Crawford State Park (Farlington Lake).

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 7, 2023 at the Hosey Hill Cemetery in Weir, KS with Pastor Kent Dorsey officiating. Family will receive friends from 9:30-10:00 a.m. prior to the service at the cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to the First Presbyterian Church Scholarship Fund.
