Albers Marine show set for late January

Event will feature Derrick Mein as guest speaker

PITTSBURG, Kan. — The 17th annual Albers Marine Hunting and Fishing Show is planned for late January. Although the full line-up of vendors and organizations that will attend the event has not been released, Albers Marine announced earlier this month that Olympian trap shooter Derrick Mein will be a featured speaker.

“We are excited to have a speaker directed toward our hunting and shooting audience!” Albers Marine said in a social media post, adding that people should stay tuned for an upcoming announcement of a second guest speaker.

Mein, a 2004 Girard High School graduate, shared the story of how he got into professional shooting in a statement posted to Albers Marine’s Facebook page.

“I grew up on a small farm in southeast Kansas and developed a love of the outdoors at an early age tagging along with my dad while quail and deer hunting,” Mein said. “I got my start in sporting clays at age 8 joining my dad in a small league at a local club. With the help of my dad, I began to develop my skills as a competitive shooter. I have been competing as a member of the NSCA since 1995, winning 14 state championships, and 4 World Championships, and leading the USA Sporting Clays Team to multiple team world titles.”

The hunting and fishing show is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 28 and 29, 2023, at Memorial Auditorium in Pittsburg. For updates and more information, visit albersmarine.com or facebook.com/albers.marine.
