Mary Kathryn "Mimi" Laswell

Mary Kathryn "Mimi" Laswell passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, Kansas.

Mimi, beloved daughter of George and Maxine (Repass) Krusich, was born November 24, 1943 in Frontenac, KS.

Mimi was raised in Pittsburg and attended St. Mary's Catholic schools graduating in 1961. She was also a graduate of Ft. Scott Community College Cosmetology Program, which she completed at the age of 70 years old. Mimi was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac.

On July 28, 1962 Mimi married her junior high sweetheart and the love of her life Larry Richard Laswell. He preceded her in death September 24, 2004.

Mimi was known for her creative flair and impeccable taste. She had a passion for interior design and spent her life cultivating a beautiful home and garden. Her talents were especially on display during the holidays when she would spend weeks decorating her home and creating the most magical memories for her family. Martha Stewart had nothing on her.

Mimi is survived by her son, Brian and daughter-in-law Tammy; her daughter Jill and son-in-law Chad Comeau; and her adored grandchildren, Stuart, William, Gretchen, Eden, and Quincy Comeau, and "her bestest baby boy"–her dog Ollie.

She also leaves behind a close circle of dear llifelongfriends. She may not have always returned their calls, but she loved them dearly and deeply.

In addition to her husband Larry, Mimi was preceded in death by her daughter Jennifer, her parents George and Maxine Krusich, her in-laws Richard and Virginia Laswell, and her big brother Gary Krusich, as well as her oldest pal Peggy McNally Harth.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday (April 24) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac with Fr. Robert McElwee as celebrant. Burial will follow in Highland Park Cemetery. A parish rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The family will receive friends following the rosary until 8:00 p.m. at the church. The family suggests memorials be given to Pawprints on the Heartland. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, Ks 66762.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg.
