PITTSBURG, Kan. — Two suspects were arrested Wednesday following the execution of a search warrant at a residence where stolen property from two recent business burglaries was found, according to the Pittsburg Police Department.

Shortly after 2 p.m. Monday, PPD officers were dispatched to Harris Heating & Air, 1403 E. 4th St., in response to a report of a burglary and theft from the business.

Officers reported that on the previous evening, suspects had unlawfully gained entry into a storage container belonging to the business and allegedly stole several items, including scrap air conditioning units and a large amount of copper tubing, valued at over $2,000.

On Wednesday afternoon, while following up on information regarding possible suspects, officers and detectives located some of the items of stolen property at a residence in the 800 block of East 9th Street in Pittsburg, according to a PPD press release. When officers initially arrived on scene, two suspects allegedly fled into the residence and refused to come out. A search warrant for the residence was obtained, and was served at approximately 4:50 p.m.

During the search of the residence, evidence and items of stolen property from the burglary at Harris Heating & Air were located and recovered, according to the PPD. Additionally, items of evidence and stolen property from another theft at a Pittsburg business were located and recovered. This other business theft consisted of a large amount of copper wiring being stolen from an AT&T storage site location in the 400 block of North Smith Street. This additional business theft was reported to police on Wednesday morning.

Additionally, while at the residence, officers located and recovered a stolen 2017 Chevy Sonic hatchback, which had previously been reported to the PPD on Jan. 10.

During the search, the two suspects who had allegedly fled into the residence upon officers’ arrival, 30-year-old Mackenzie E. Jenkins, of Pittsburg, and 30-year-old Heather L. Williams, also of Pittsburg, were located inside the home and taken into custody without incident.

Jenkins and Williams were both arrested for felony burglary to a non-dwelling, felony theft, felony possession of stolen property and misdemeanor criminal damage. Both Jenkins and Williams were transported to the Crawford County Jail for booking, where they were both being held Thursday without bond.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing, the PPD noted in its release. Anyone having information related to this incident, or other incidents, is urged to contact the PPD at 620-231-1700, or at the tip line, 620-231-TIPS (8477). Callers may remain anonymous.
