Local paraeducators to get raises, but school officials say spec. ed. remains grossly underfunded

Paraeducators are a key component of special education programs, assisting teachers with classroom management and providing much-needed tutoring and mentoring skills while modeling proper social interactions. Paras provide much of the one-on-one instruction students need. Many paraeducators go on to become fully licensed teachers.
