Marilyn Sue Brown

Marilyn Sue Brown, 82, of Pittsburg, KS passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Via Christi Village, where she had resided since November 2022.

She was born February 6, 1941 in Pittsburg, the daughter of Ernest and Opal Ellen (Richwine) Long.

She attended and graduated from Frontenac High School in 1959.

On June 18, 1960 she was united in marriage to Dale "Brownie" Brown in Pittsburg; he preceded her in death on November 14, 2004.

Marilyn worked for Kress' Dept. store as a clerk until she and Dale opened Brownie's Garage and Wrecker Service. Together they ran Brownie's Garage for 44 years. She continued to work at "The Shop" with her son, Steve, until its closure in 2008.

She was of the Christian faith and was a former member of the First Christian Church in Pittsburg.

Survivors include her daughter Julie (Mark) Redd of Pittsburg; a sister Dorothy (Dean) Mangile of Frontenac; a daughter-in-law Julie Brown of Kansas City, KS; five grandchildren: Janelle Brown, Stephanie (Eammon) Krusich, Adam (Rendi) Redd, Lucas Redd, and Taylor (Brendan) Schmidt; along with three great-grandchildren: Ben and Dylan Krusich, Hudson Redd, and her beloved Abby dog.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons: Ronnie and Steve Brown, a brother Ernie Long, and her companion Clifford Daniels.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, with Pastor Daryl Gaddy officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com. Memorials may be made to the SEK Humane Society; these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
