Linda K. Geier Mills, 78, of Girard, died at 2:15 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023, in the Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg.
Linda Was born Nov. 13, 1944, in Girard, a daughter of Robert Oran and Kathryn Belle (Gerhard) Geier. Linda grew up in rural Cherokee, and she graduated from Southeast High School in 1962.
Linda married Charles E. Butch Mills on June 1, 1963, in Girard, and he survives of the home.
Linda and Butch made their home in Salina before returning to Girard in 1965. Linda worked as a veterinary assistant to Dr. W. W. Ogborn in Pittsburg for over 30 years. She later worked at Prairie Flowers in Girard.
Linda enjoyed her family, homemaking, crafts, animals, and was an excellent seamstress.
She was a member of St. Michael Church in Girard.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, Charles E. Butch, of Girard, are a daughter, Nancy L. Mills of Girard; her grandson, Rob Gardner of Los Angeles, California; her granddaughter, Allyssa Gardner of Girard; her great-grandsons, Brock Kirkpatrick and Noah Sammons; a sister, Shirley Richardson, and her husband, Robert, of Pittsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Brandi Bonita Sammons, on Sept. 9, 2021; a sister, Roberta Geier; and her brothers, Merle Geier, Raymond Geier, Norman Geier, Glen Geier, Paul Edward Geier, and Larry R. Geier.
Funeral services will be 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 6, 2023, at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home with Fr. Mike Klag as Celebrant. Private burial will be at a later date in the Girard Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until service time at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, where friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Children's Mercy Hospital or Paw Prints, and these may be left at the funeral home at 518 W. St. John, Box 258, Girard, KS 66743.
