Kathryn Irena Madison

Kathryn Irena Madison was born on January 26, 1954 to Norman and Barbara Geier in Pittsburg, Kansas. Kathy passed away at 11:49 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, due to a sudden illness at Cox Medical center in Lamar, MO.

 Kathy attended Cherokee grade school and graduated from Southeast High School in 1972. She was united in marriage with her high school love John Edward Ross on 04/14/1973. John passed away on 07/17/1978. They had 2 children, Barbi and Joey. She was later married to Steve Madison on 05/25/1984. They were married for 40 years when Steve passed away suddenly on 06/24/18. 

Kathy was a hippie at heart. She loved life, family, and helping others. She had brief careers at Dell Letters and the Salvation Army before becoming a dedicated housewife and mother.

She attended all of her children’s events and would help anyone at any time. She loved classic rock music. Some of her favorite bands were the Eagles, ZZ Top, Joan Jett, ACDC, and the Rolling Stones. To meet Kathy was to love her.

She is survived by a daughter Barb Middleton (Craig) of Palm Coast, FL; a son Joey Ross (Kimberly) of Lamar MO; nephew, Robert Spragg (Lynn) of Cherokee KS; a sister, Patty Messer (Dale) of Frontenac KS; brother, Randy Geier of Pittsburg KS; 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, and dozens of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Bob and Ronnie Geier; husband John; husband Steve; and her grandparents.

Kathy made the world a brighter place and will be truly missed by all. There will be a celebration of life on October 28th at 4 p.m. Chicken and drinks will be provided by the family, and side dishes would be appreciated. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS.
