Elizabeth W. “Betty” Heistand, 92 of Columbus, Kansas died Monday, Oct. 10, 2022 at her home.
She was born Nov. 16, 1929 in rural Columbus to Thomas and Winnie Agnes (Smith) Morris.
On June 8, 1947 she was united in marriage to Fred Christian Heistand in Columbus, Kansas, who preceded her in death on July 26, 2009.
Betty worked as a factory worker, then as a nurse’s aide. She then worked for the Parsons Army Ammunition Plant for many years.
Survivors include three daughters: Barbara George of Battlefield, Missouri, Mary Martin and Ruth Delmont both of Columbus, Kansas and a son Fred R. Heistand also of Columbus, eight grandchildren Gabby George, Michelle Robinson, Christy Oplotnik, Bobby Martin, Julie Pace, Jennifer Niederklein, Fred J. Heistand and Jon Heistand, 11 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and two sisters-in-law Shirley Whitely and Marilyn Morris.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings Bill Morris, Jack Morris, Jim Morris, Joan Webber and John Morris.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022 at the Park Cemetery in Columbus. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the procession leaves for the cemetery. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com.
