Carl "Anthony" Pichler

Carl "Anthony" Pichler, 76, of rural Pittsburg, Kansas passed away on March 9, 2023 at 6:04 p.m. at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, Kansas.

Mr. Anthony Pichler was born on October 15, 1946, to Carl Frank and Rosemary (Kermashek) Pichler in Frontenac, Kansas. He was raised in Frontenac and graduated in 1964 from Frontenac High School, where he participated and excelled in sports all year around and all four years until graduating. After courting Donna Jo Zerngast, they united in marriage on September 6, 1965 in Arma, Kansas. After marriage, he joined the Army National Guard, where he served four years. After his service, Anthony and his wife Donna successfully opened Pichler's Chicken Annie's in February of 1970. Mr. Pichler was a businessman, and contributed to the community. He served as Crawford County Commissioner for 20 years, from 1986 to 2006. Anthony and his family lived in the Crawford County area most of their lives. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, the Masonic Lodge, the Mirza Shrine, as well as many other civic organizations throughout the Pittsburg area.

Survivors include his wife, Donna, of the home; two sons, Anthony (Lorry) Pichler of Pittsburg and Shawn (Gina) Pichler of Wichita; a daughter, Melissa Pichler-Evans of Pittsburg; and a sister, Monica (Andy) Pichler Miller of Chicopee. Additional survivors include nine grandchildren: Carlie Caldwell, MaKayla Pichler, Alexis Pichler, Lane Pichler, Averie Hinton, Tavin Evans, Zain Evans, Kaden Pichler, and Jace Pichler; four great-grandchildren: Mason Caldwell, Hadley Caldwell, Palmer Caldwell, and Stella Caldwell; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Rosemary Pichler, a granddaughter, Jaylin Evans, and a great-granddaughter, Saylor Caldwell.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 10 a.m. in the Chicopee Community Center, 403 S. Pesavento Avenue, Pittsburg, Kansas, with Father Jerome Spexarth officiating. Burial of cremains will be held at a later date. Friends may come by between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, to sign the registrar book at the Bedene Funeral Home in Arma, Kansas. The family suggests memorials to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg or to the Chicopee Community Center. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E.
