William H. Bendt, III, 67, was born Oct. 18, 1955 in Kansas City, MO and passed away at home in Robertsdale, AL on May 27, 2023.
He was the second-born child out of five to William Bendt Jr. and Dixie Brannon, who later remarried to Orville Brannon. William graduated from PHS of Pittsburg, Kansas in 1974, where he met his wife, Nancy, of 47 years. William was the father of two daughters and one son. He enjoyed spending his time with his family, going to the movies, hunting, fishing, camping, tractor pulls, car shows, coin shows, playing golf, working on cars, and family trips to Silver Dollar City.
William worked at McNally's Foundry from 1973-1983, QuickTrip from 1984-1985, Perfection Forms/PrintXcel from 1985-2012, and Secure Transportation Services from 2013-2015.
William is survived by his wife, Nancy L. Howard Bendt; his children Shawnette Bell of Pittsburg, KS, Mikki Bendt and her husband Ervin Cottingham of Helena, AL, and Steven Bendt and his wife Chelsea Knight Bendt of Seminole, AL; siblings Kenneth Bendt of Girard, KS, and sister Dr. Nishua Bendt and her husband David Phillips of Republic, MO; and brother-in-law Steve Forehand of Pittsburg, KS. William also has three grandsons, nine granddaughters, and three great-grandsons.
William was preceded in passing by his parents, stepfather, and two sisters, Patricia Forehand and Tinna Bendt.
Graveside service will be officiated by Pastor Jim Fryer on the date of June 24, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Lone Elm Cemetery located on NE Lawton Road, Columbus, KS.
