Posted

PITTSBURG, Kan. — Pittsburg Community Schools USD 250 will host two nights of open houses for community members to tour the 2022 PCMS Bond site. The newly renovated portion of the school will be open to the public on Thursday, Sept. 7 and Tuesday, Sept. 12 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

“There is a lot of interest from the community to see this project and we can’t wait for everyone to see it finished,” said Superintendent Richard Proffitt. “We took a lot of pride in the history of this building during the renovation and we hope that students, past and present, as well as the community appreciate the value of this building.”

Visitors can expect to see modern architecture blended with tributes to the school's rich history. The historic 1921 building housed high school students until 1981 when it was turned into, and is still today, Pittsburg Community Middle School.

All four levels of the building have been renovated and will be open for viewing. All other areas of PCMS will be closed to the public during this function.
