Troy Franklin Schirk, 67, passed away Sunday, Dec. 18, 2022 surrounded by his family at Ascension Via Christi Pittsburg, Kansas after a long period of failing health.
Troy was born June 7, 1955 in Pittsburg, Kansas to Louis McCabe Schirk and Leona (Spielman) Schirk. He grew up in Pittsburg and was of the Catholic faith throughout his life.
Following his education, he worked for many years traveling extensively as a regional sales manager responsible for assisting restaurant franchisees in achieving and maintaining successful businesses.
Troy was a loyal and generous friend with a great sense of humor. Following his retirement, he returned to Pittsburg where he enjoyed fishing with his brothers, spending time with family, playing games and visiting with his nieces and nephews and his young friend Ayden and playing cards while arguing over the rules.
In his later years he enjoyed visiting with his neighbors and friends at the Knights of Columbus Towers and Frontenac. Troy always looked forward to getting together with his siblings for lunch. Above all he loved his family.
Troy is survived by brothers James of Overland Park, Kansas, Robert (wife Terry) and Rick both of Pittsburg, Kansas and sister Mary Carol Leabo of Pittsburg, several nieces and nephews and his long-time furry friend Rosie. Additional survivors include Tonia (Toni) Schwartz, the very first employee he hired who became his dear friend for these many years, and Pat and Terri Pence, who provided many hours of friendship and assistance in these past years. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jerry.
He has been cremated according to his wishes. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
