Ruth A. Minelli

Ruth A. Minelli, 84, of Pittsburg, passed away at 1:37 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Ascension Via Christi Hospital.

She was born April 3, 1939 in Carona, Kansas, the daughter of Frank and Adeline (Funaro) Casciaro. She graduated from West Mineral High School in 1956. She took college classes at Kansas State Teacher's College, UMKC, and Emporia State University.

On September 30, 1961, she was united in marriage to Joseph Minelli at the Presbyterian Church in Scammon, Kansas.

Mrs. Minelli served as the Branch Manager for American General Financial for 40 years, where she held a full Insurance license and Investment license with the Security Exchange Commission. After her retirement, she volunteered at Ascension Via Christi Hospital for over 20 years, was an avid Bridge and Duplicate Bridge player, and was the Director of Duplicate Bridge games at the Homer Cole Center.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph Minelli of the home; a daughter, Jodi Zengel and her husband, Ryan of Joplin, Missouri; a son, Jeff Minelli and Tina Unrein of Overland Park, Kansas; four grandchildren, Austin Zengel, Jessica Zengel, Chris Minelli and Matt Minelli; brother-in-law, Richard Minelli and wife, Cindy; two nieces, Judy Terry and LeAnn Assink; and two nephews, Rick Helms and Jim Kelly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Art Casciaro, and two sisters, Florine Helms and Adalaide Kelly.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at the Brenner Mortuary, with Chaplain Pete Mayo giving the eulogy and personal remarks given by her nephew, Rick Helms. The family will receive friends following the Celebration of Life until 8 p.m. The family suggests memorials be given to the Via Christi Auxiliary or Arthritis Foundation.
