PITTSBURG, Kan. — BMO Trust and Custody Services will announce the recipients of the Pritchett Trust grants at a reception on Thursday, Sept. 7, at 4 p.m. inside the BMO Bank, 417 N. Broadway, Pittsburg, Kansas. More than $460,000 in grants will be distributed to 33 organizations, schools and municipalities in Southeast Kansas. The event is open to the public.

The Trust was funded in 1994 after the deaths of long-time Pittsburg residents, William B. Pritchett, veteran of World War I, and Athlyn C. Pritchett. Soon after their marriage in 1920, they operated the Pritchett Insurance Agency in Pittsburg. During the 1930s and 1940s, they invested in oil and gas leases in Kansas and Oklahoma, becoming successful in both businesses.

“The Pritchett Trust committee is proud to honor the legacy of Mr. and Mrs. Pritchett by awarding non-profit organizations, schools and municipalities with funds to make a lasting impact and improve the quality of life in Southeast Kansas,” said Frances Mitchelson, Pritchett Trust Grant Committee Chairman.

Other members of the Pritchett grant selection process include Rick Baden, Ron Marrone, Ron Seglie and Vince VanBecelaere.

Since the first grants were distributed in 1995, the Trust has awarded a total of more than $11 million to organizations in Southeast Kansas.
