Peggy Jean (Holden) Coltrane

Peggy Jean (Holden) Coltrane, 75, of rural Cherokee, Kansas passed away at 5:50 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2023 at the Pittsburg Care and Rehab Facility in Pittsburg.

She was born December 17, 1947 in Columbus, Kansas to Rolla W. and Lela (Caresio) Holden. She graduated from Southeast High School in 1965.

She was united in marriage to Kenny Nutt on Nov 21, 1970. He preceded her in death.

She married Don Coltrane on March 21, 1993. He survives at the family home.

Peggy loved working with the Department of Kansas Employment services where she enjoyed supervising, encouraging summer youth as they completed their job service each summer.

Peggy enjoyed taking classes and studied business and computers at Fort Scott CC/Pittsburg State University. She enjoyed living in Wyoming, hunting, fishing, and camping, and she was her children's biggest fan as they competed in sports and in life. Peggy also loved spending time by the ocean and inherited that Italian gene of being an amazing cook.

She was a loyal friend, sister, and loved her family deeply. Most importantly, she was a powerful prayer warrior and loved Jesus. No doubt she is celebrating in Heaven!

Survivors include her daughter Anna Nutt of Platte City, MO, Shane(Melody) Nutt of Polo, MO; 4 granddaughters, Kelsey (Spencer) Brown, Kiley, Gracie, and Gabby Nutt; 2 great-grandsons, Pierce and Raleigh; and sister, Vivian Pelham of Tallahassee, FL

She was preceded in her death by her parents Lela and Rolla Holden and sister Patsy Swartz.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Thursday (April 6) at the Brenner Mortuary. A parish rosary will be prayed at 10:45 a.m. Thursday (April 6), with funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Jerome Spexarth officiating. Burial will follow in the Cherokee City Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be given to Gentiva Hospice. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762.
