Minnesota man injured in Bourbon County crash Monday

FORT SCOTT, Kan. — A 38-year-old Minnesota man was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash in Fort Scott early Monday morning. 

As reported by the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP), the crash happened at 1 a.m. approximately 1.5 miles south of the U.S. 54 east intersection in Fort Scott, or U.S. 69 milepost 64.5. 

Liban Hassan Abdi, 38, of Minneapolis, Minnesota was traveling southbound on U.S. 69 in the right lane in a 2023 Freightliner Semi. 

Abdi attempted to navigate the curve, rotated clockwise and overturned. 

The semi then came to a rest facing southwest blocking all four lanes of traffic. 

Abdi was transported to Overland Park Regional for treatment of suspected serious injuries. 

He was also wearing his seatbelt, according to the KHP.
