James (Jim) Edward Rowe

James (Jim) Edward Rowe died peacefully on April 4th at the age of 84.

Jim is survived by his wife, Janet Rowe; his sister Barbara James (Gene); his daughter, Taunya Schultz (Jeff); his granddaughters, Laura Redmond (Matthew) and Emily Schultz, as well as his three great-grandchildren, Daylynn, Micah and Finn Redmond. He was preceded in death by his sisters Kay Witt and Marsha Murray, and his parents Richard and Nellie Rowe of Wichita, Kansas, as well as his grandmother Ada Harris of Pittsburg, Kansas.

Jim was born on March 27th, 1939, in Pittsburg, Kansas. He graduated from Kansas State University in Pittsburg, Kansas in 1962 with a degree in engineering and later earned an MBA from Seattle University. Jim served in the National Guard with his father from starting at age 16, was part of ROTC in college, then joined the Army in 1962 to serve for 3 years. He married Janet in 1962, and they welcomed Taunya in 1964 at Fort Lewis in Washington. Before retiring, Jim worked as an engineer, an engineering sales rep, and a college instructor. He spent more than 20 years studying the Bible through Bible Study Fellowship. During retirement, he also enjoyed serving as a chaplain in the American Legion officiating funerals, and served on the Honor Guard for other service members at Tahoma National Cemetery.

A funeral is scheduled for April 22nd at 2 p.m. at the Crocker Cemetery in Pittsburg, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Legion at PO Box 503, Renton, WA 98057-0503.
