James Corbin

James Spencer Corbin passed away on March 3, 2024, in McKinney, Texas at the age of 80. He was born to Ralph and Alma (Bradby) Corbin on October 17, 1943, in Jersey City, New Jersey.

James graduated from Lincoln High School in Jersey City in 1963, known as Jimmy Corbin. He married Sandra Marie Sawyer on October 17, 1970, in Pittsburg, Kansas. While serving in the United States Air Force, James became active in the military police where he served his country and community faithfully. Jim was a Vietnam combat veteran, part of the Air Force Rangers sniper team. Law enforcement became a full-time service for him, serving multiple agencies around the country. Jersey City Police Department, Crawford County Sheriff's Department's first K-9 Unit, Girard Police Department, Kansas Bureau of Investigation, and finally Dallas County Constable's Office.

James raised his family in his wife's hometown Girard, Kansas. Jim enjoyed fishing and loved all sports. He coached both his girls and many other kids in softball, basketball, and track and field. Family was very important to him, and he loved going to all the kids' and grandkids' activities and games.

James is survived by his wife, Sandra Marie Corbin of McKinney, Texas; daughters, Kristen Bowers and husband, Adam of McKinney, Texas, and Carla Corbin of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Kyrah Hendrix, Korbin Hendrix, and Sawyer Corbin; son-in-law, Keith Hendrix; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Alma Corbin; brothers, Warren and Neal Corbin, and Jackie Cheatmun; and sister, Alice Dieudonne.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, Kansas.
