As the sun rose over Pittsburg, Monday, a score of volunteers with the Avenue of Flags project carried on a longstanding tradition in Highland Park Cemetery. At the same time, others, with Sunflower Kiwanis, were working in residential neighborhoods. Their shared mission was to honor veterans by displaying the flag that they all served.
