Greta L. Paoni Hauer

Greta L. Paoni Hauer, 92, of Kansas City, Missouri, beloved Mother and Grandmother went home to our Lord on Sunday, February 4, 2024 in University Health Lakewood in Kansas City.

Greta was born in Kansas City, Missouri on October 27, 1931 to Harold and Nellie (Vest) Rakes.

She graduated from East High School in 1947. She was employed at Kansas City Osteopathic Hospital where she met and was married to Adam George Paoni, DO., on June 2, 1959. They divorced in 1980. She married Charles Hauer in 1986 and he preceded her in death.

They owned Greater KC Communication and she was President of the Women's Auxiliary VFW Post No. 6840 in Kansas City and VFW Post No. 1829 in Raytown, Missouri. She was active in the Raytown PTA, served as an Alderwoman for the city of Raytown, and was active in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Raytown.

Her greatest joy was being a mother and a homemaker and she excelled at both.

Survivors include her daughter, Tracie L. Zubeck and Todd Cramer, of Raytown; her sons, Dr. Adam S. Paoni, and his wife, Faith, of Girard and Dr. Christopher J. Paoni, of Girard; her grandchildren, Joshua Paoni, Benjamin Paoni, Theodore Paoni, Sienna Paoni, Matt Zubeck, Sarah Zubeck, Vincent Paoni, and Jarrett Paoni; five great-grandchildren; a cousin, Gleeman Vest.

Greta was preceded in death by her first husband, husband, Charles Hauer; mother, Nellie Martin; father, Harold Rakes; step-father, John K. Martin; her sister, Delores Jones; and a grandson, Christian Jon Paoni on May 9, 1997.

Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 20, 2024 in St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church, 8941 James A. Reed Road, Kansas City, Missouri.

The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday at the church followed by the Rosary and the service.

Memorial Graveside Service will be at 11:30 a.m., Friday, February 23, 2024 at the Girard Cemetery with Fr. Daniel Vacca officiating.

Memorials are suggested to the VFW Auxiliary Post No. 1829, 5904 Crystal Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri 64129 and these may be left at the church or the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W St. John, Box 258, Girard, 66743.
