Franklin Roosevelt Herford, 89, of Pittsburg, KS died 11 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 8, 2024, at his home following an illness.

Frank was born Dec. 15, 1934, in Taberville, Missouri, the son of Isaac and Carrie Caroline (Gump) Herford. Frank was a Veteran of the United States Army. On April 8, 1957, Frank married Shirley E. Phillips in Girard, KS; she survives at the home. Frank was the owner and operator of Herford Used Cars and Salvage. It was business that was started by Frank from the ground up and was in operation from 1960 to 2024. Frank was a long time member of the Church of God in Pittsburg, KS and was known to enjoy his work and family.

Survivors include his wife; children Mark Franklin Herford of Pittsburg, KS, Timothy Paul Herford and wife Virginia of Pittsburg, KS, Sarah Elzona Goolsby and husband Keith of Branson, MO and Jennifer Ruth Smithson and husband Stephen of Pittsburg, KS; grandchildren Elisabeth Herford, Eileen Robarts, Paul Herford, Heather Tucker, Drew Goosby, Courtney Hagebusch, Tayor Smithson, Sarah Lott and 11 great-grandchildren.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

Memorial Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday Oct. 19, 2024, at the Church of God in Pittsburg, KS with Taylor Smithson and Drew Goolsby officiating. Burial will be private at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS. In lieu of flowers the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to Church of God.
