Elijah "Touch" Touchton, 80, of Pittsburg, KS, died on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at his son's residence in Pittsburg, KS.
He was born December 19, 1942, in Statenville, GA, the son of Lloyd and Vashti Touchton.
On April 20, 1963, he was united in marriage to Doris Bartz in Eudora, KS. She preceded him in death on October 11, 2017.
Touch was the Owner/Operator of Touchton Electric, Inc., that was established in 1969. In 1994, he retired, and his son took over the family business. With his servant's heart for the Lord, Touch devoted his life to helping others. He also led mission work for various organizations, including Baptist Builders and KNCSB Disaster Relief.
He was a current member of the First Baptist Church of Cherokee, KS, and previously a long-time member of Trinity Baptist Church of Pittsburg, KS.
He was a member of the Kansas-Nebraska Convention of Southern Baptist and Pittsburg American Legion and served eight years in the Air Force.
He is survived by daughter Janet (Scott) Graham of Weir, KS; son David (Susan) Touchton of Pittsburg, KS; and daughter Joanne (Brad)Wieneke of Quapaw, OK; brother L.W. ( Patrilla) Touchton, Jr., of Morris, GA; sister Vashti (Bryan) Jones of Wichita, KS; nine grandchildren: Haley (James) Conn, Justin Graham, Hope (Will) Hinman, Anna Wieneke, Jared Graham, Eli Touchton, Rachel Wieneke, Brooke Wieneke, and Joy Wieneke; three great-grandchildren: Blakely Hinman, Harper Hinman, and James Conn.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Doris Touchton, wife Georganne Potter, brother Levin Touchton, and sister Julia Bennett.
Funeral Services will be 10 am, Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Cherokee in Cherokee, KS, with Pastors Bryan Jones and Brad Wieneke officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Park Cemetery.
Family will receive friends at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Pittsburg from 6-8 pm, Monday, April 3, 2023.
