Charlene K. Endicott

Charlene K. Endicott, 81, of rural Weir, Kansas, passed away at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Ascension Via Christi Village, Pittsburg, Kansas.

She was born May 30, 1941 near Opolis, the daughter of Wilford and Dorothy (Ashmore) Melton. She attended Crawford Community High School in Cherokee, Kansas, graduating in 1958.

On Jan. 1, 1959, she was united in marriage to Harold L. Endicott at Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on Jan. 6, 2011.

She worked for 29 years as Activities Director at the Medicalodge North Nursing Home, Pittsburg, retiring in 2008.

Charlene was a wonderful cook and always made sure everyone was well-fed. No one ever left her house with an empty stomach! She enjoyed daytrips and shopping with family. She and Harold also enjoyed playing cards with their life-long friends; Don and Joyce Garritson, Frank and JoAnn Pesavento, and Leon and Bonnie Rantz. Charlene delighted in time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include four children, Debbie Jones (Jim) of Frontenac, Kansas, Bryan Endicott of rural Columbus, Kansas, Brent Endicott (Suzie) of Columbus, Kansas, and Shelly Bottorff (Todd) of rural Galena, Kansas; 9 grandchildren, Jerod Martin (Ryan Parks) of Olathe, Natalie McLaren (Derek) of Pittsburg, Jordyn Chaffin (Phillandus) of Lawrence, Kansas, Heather Jacquinet of McCune, Kansas, Justin Endicott of  Columbus, Maddie Overman (Jon) of Pittsburg, Rebecca Endicott of Columbus, Tyler Bottorff and Kenlee Bottorff of rural Galena; 3 great-grandchildren, Gracen and Hudson McLaren and Lincoln Overman; two brothers, Larry Melton (Betty Jo) of Baxter Springs and Lloyd Melton of Frontenac; and two sisters, Charlotte Purdy of rural Pittsburg, and Sharon Cleffman of Pittsburg. 

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

A Graveside Service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday (July 12) at the Council Corners Cemetery, rural Weir, with Rev. Don Smith officiating. Friends are requested to meet at the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Brenner Mortuary, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Monday. Friends may leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com.
