Catherine Taylor

Catherine Taylor, 88, formerly of Pittsburg, died July 16, 2022, at the Arma Care Center in Arma, Kansas, of an illness.

She was born May 9, 1934, in Mound City, Kansas, the daughter of James E. and Margaret M. Gorman Higgins. She attended Mound City Schools and graduated from Mound City High School. She had been a resident of Pittsburg since 1962, after moving from Ft. Scott.

She married William L. Taylor on Oct. 20, 1960, in Mound City, and he survives at the home in Pittsburg.

Mrs. Taylor worked at PSU as a clerk and also worked with the University Police Department and in Parking services for 26 years retiring in May of 1991.

She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg, St. Mary's Altar Society, and the Civil Service Club.

Survivors include her husband, William Taylor, of the home in Pittsburg; three sisters, Margaret Shepherd of Ellsworth, Kansas, Elizabeth McCurley and her husband Cedric of Springfield, Missouri, and Ruth Nation and her husband L. D. of Butler, Missouri; and one brother, Jim Higgins of Mound City, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Shirley Corbin, Mary Ann Galloway, and Rose Hutchinson, and one brother, Pete Higgins.
