Brown earns two medals at AAU Junior Olympics

St. Mary’s Colgan senior Lily Brown led the Girard Warriors Youth Track Club at AAU Junior Olympic Games on Wednesday on the campus of Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. The Class 2A triple jump state champion finished seventh in girls 17-18 age group triple jump, earning a medal with a jump of 37-09. 

Brown earned her second medal of the meet on Thursday, finishing fifth in long jump with a mark of 5.41 feet. 

Brown also finished 43rd in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing at 16.45. Brown was one of five Warriors who competed on the fifth day of nationals. Her teammate Janae Granere out of Marmaton Valley also competed in the triple jump, finishing 10th at 37-04. 

Norah Gilmore competed in the 11-year-old age group in the 800-meter run, finishing with a time of 2:44.50 to place 26th. Olivia Brown also competed in the 80-meter hurdles, finishing 28th at 16.29 along with teammate Quinn Clevenger who finished 51st at 19.16. 

The Warriors are a track club based out of Girard, coached by former Pittsburg State track athlete Nate Clevenger, a teacher at Girard Middle School. The AAU Junior Olympics conclude on Saturday, August 5.
