Archie T. Simons, 68, of Girard, died at 8:36 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022, in the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.
Archie was born July 27, 1954, in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, a son of Bill and Patricia (Miller) Simons. He attended school in Colorado before graduating from Girard High School in 1972. He graduated with a degree in refrigeration and air conditioning from Pittsburg State University in 1975.
Archie married Tamorah Noe on March 12, 1976, in the United Methodist Church in Farlington. They later divorced.
He worked at Forms Manufacturing in Girard for many years before becoming disabled in 1997.
He was a member of the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Alcoholics Anonymous.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, participating in AA functions, and spending time with his friends and family. His biggest accomplishment was his three daughters, as well as being 23 years sober.
Survivors include his daughters, Renee Hyman and her husband Joe, of Girard, Melissa Joliet of Yellville, Arkansas, and Amy Geier and her husband Jace, of Girard; his grandchildren, Breanna and Zack Hyman, Cameryn Simons, Haylie Moyer, and Jaycie and Jentry Geier; four great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts and uncles, a brother, and three sisters.
A Memorial Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard, where friends may call between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday.
