Police locate person of interest, but victim uncooperative

PITTSBURG, Kan. — Police responded to the area of the Sonic Drive-In on North Broadway on Thursday night in response to a report of a shooting incident. Although a victim suffering from a gunshot wound and a potential person of interest in the case were both located, however, the victim was uncooperative with police.

At approximately 9:39 p.m. Thursday, officers with the Pittsburg Police Department were dispatched to the 100 block of West 23rd Street for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located a 32-year-old male suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to an extremity. The victim, who was uncooperative with officers, was transported to an area hospital and remains in stable condition, according to the PPD.

“During the initial investigation, officers were able to locate a possible person of interest, however the victim remained uncooperative in the investigation,” the PPD said in a press release. Neither the name of the victim or the potential person of interest were released.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing, the PPD said. Anyone with information related to this incident, or other incidents, is urged to contact the PPD at 620-231-1700 or at the department’s tip line, 620-231-TIPS (8477). Callers may remain anonymous.
