Shirley L. Scott

Shirley L. Scott, 85, of St. Paul, formerly of rural Weir, died at 7:33 a.m., Tuesday, January 28, 2025, in Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul.

Shirley was born Jan. 12, 1940, in Buffalo, Kansas, the daughter of Thomas and Hazel Salem.  She graduated from Columbus High School in Columbus.

Shirley married Neal A. Scott on July 14, 1959, in Independence, Kansas and Neal preceded her in death on Feb. 10, 2023.

They lived at rural Girard on a dairy farm and Shirley worked as a CNA at the Girard Hospital. After her retirement they lived at rural Weir.

Shirley was a member of the Beulah Community Church and a past 4-H Leader. She enjoyed her family and attending family sporting events, fishing, reading, music, swimming, traveling, and attending the Pittsburg YMCA.

Survivors include her daughters, Kay Mein, and her husband, Rick, of Walnut, Vickie Boss, and her husband, Jim, of Eureka and Connie Hewlett, and her husband, Edward, of Nevada; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a son, Steve Scott, and a daughter, Cathy Ward.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, at the Beulah Community Church with Pastor Murry Balk officiating.

Memorials are suggested to the Beulah Community Church, and these may be left at the service or the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W St. John, Box 258, Girard, 66743.
