Roberta Jean Coomes, 84, of Frontenac, died at 8:10 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2023, at her home.
She was born Aug. 20, 1938, in Parsons, Kansas, the daughter of Ben and Marie (Purdon) Witty.
On March 2, 1962, she was united in marriage to Robert E. "Bob" Coomes in Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 2012.
She and her husband, Bob, were the owner and operators of Coomes Steel Buildings and Coomes Self Storage.
She was a longtime area resident and a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac.
Roberta worked at JC Penney's as a clerk for many years
Survivors include a son Ben R. Coomes and a daughter Kyra Hensley both of Frontenac; three grandchildren, Keele Allen and husband Travis, Natalie Christman and husband Jake, and Karsyn Hensley; and three great-grandchildren, Karter Allen, Kanon Allen, and Ketcher Allen, all of Frontenac.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Bob.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac with Fr. Josh Evans as Celebrant. Inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. The Wake will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Friskel Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends.
