Ricky Allen Hurt

Ricky Allen Hurt, 77, of Frontenac, died at 3 a.m. Friday, Dec. 23, 2022, at his home following an illness.
Rick was born Aug. 11, 1945, in Pittsburg, the son of Lee Edward and Hazel Viola (Little) Hurt. He was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Pittsburg High School. He later took some college classes at Kansas Teachers College. Rick also served in the Army National Guard. Rick worked for Kansas City Southern Railroad as a conductor and brakeman. Rick was known for a lust for life; he loved hunting, fishing, dancing, playing harmonica, woodworking, his cattle, and his chickens. He was known as an artist and conservationist.
Survivors include his Children Jeff Martin of California, Pamela Teter of Republic, Missouri, Melissa England of Chicago, Illinois, and Rick Hurt of Frontenac; companion, Jacque Scott of Iola; sister, Wanda Wilson and husband Ken of South Carolina; grandchildren, Kayla DuMelle, Christopher England, Joshua England, Darian Rhoades, Drew Hurt, Dayton Hurt, Dash Martin, Madison Autry, and Taylor Maxwell; as well as 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Nadine Oath, Captain Jim Hurt, and Mary Windsor.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, 2022, at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, with Pastor Duane Elmore officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to St. Jude's. Friends may drop off or mail memorials to Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S.
