Frontenac pitchers Jack Murphy and Jake Capehart combined on a three-hit shutout and Korbin Niegsch scored the game’s lone run on a Luke Sneed hit in the third inning during a 1-0 win Monday for the Raiders their home opener against Nevada, Mo.

Murphy earned the win and allowed one hit over four innings, while Capehart surrendered the other two Nevada hits in his three innings.

The Raiders put together a two-out rally against Nevada starter James Qui to score their run. Niegsch reached on a two-out single and went to second on a walk and third on a passed ball before scoring on Sneed’s hit.

Niegsch and Sneed had the only Raider hits against Nevada Qui and reliever Kaden Burns.

Caden Klumpp collected two of the three hits against Murphy and Capehart.

The Raiders improved to 2-1 on the season and returned to their winning ways after their 10-2 loss last Thursday against Paola.

Frontenac welcomes another Missouri school from the Big 8 Conference on Friday, Class 5 McDonald County. Nevada (3-2) hosted St. Mary’s Colgan (0-3) for the Tigers’ home opener Tuesday after four tournament games and Frontenac on the road.
