Pearl, a goat with patience that comes only from time spent with children, stood calmly, Wednesday morning as sisters Emery (8) and Heidi (10) gave her a good shampoo on the first full day of the 108th Crawford County Fair. The Mengarelli girls were just two of the many 4-H kids scurrying around the livestock barns that morning, feeding and watering, washing and blow drying and doing all those things necessary to prepare their goats, sheep, pigs, cattle and all manner of farm animals for judging.
