Nancy Ann Peace, 80, of Carona, Kansas, died Dec. 31, 2022 at her home following a long illness.
She was born May 9, 1942 in Carona, the daughter of Claude T. and Genevieve (Petermalo) Smith.
On May 16, 1985 she was united in marriage to Billy Field Peace in Miami, Oklahoma; he preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 2020.
Nancy was a homemaker but also worked with her brother at the Petermalo Restaurant; she was the postmaster at Hallowell, Kansas; she ran Godfather’s Lounge in Scammon, Kansas, and the VFW in Columbus, Kansas.
She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #918, West Mineral, Kansas, and the VFW Post # 1372.
Survivors include Jeff McCormick (Julie) of Scammon, Kansas, Janelle (Michael) DeFord of Pittsburg, Kansas; a sister Linda (Dean) Cowan of Joplin, Missouri; grandchildren Michael McCormick, Monica Stadtmueller, Taylor Brooks, Dalton McCormick; great-grandchildren Zane Gunnett, Bricklynn Gunnett, Tanner Gunnett, Lilia McCormick, Octavia Stadtmueller, Isabella Nancy Stadtmueller, Levi Brooks and Gracelynn Paulie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, David Smith.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Jan. 6, 2023, at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Weir, Kansas with Fr. Chrysostom Au Maung officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the services beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in the St. Bridget’s Catholic Cemetery in Scammon.
