PITTSBURG, Kan. — The Mercy Pittsburg Hospital labor and delivery team recently received recognition for practices in supporting breastfeeding practices and improving maternal and infant health outcomes.
The recognition, known as the High 5 for Mom & Baby, is given to facilities that follow at least five of the 10 evidence-based practices. Mercy ensures the baby gets skin to skin contact after birth, offers breastmilk, has no pacifiers or bottle nipples, rooms the newborn with the mother and provides breastfeeding resources.
