MaryAnn Jones, 84, of Cherokee, Kansas, passed away on Dec. 3, 2022, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg.
MaryAnn was born on Dec. 6, 1937, to Wayman and Mary (Bertella) Mummert in Roseland, Kansas. She married Samuel E. "Sam" Jones on Aug. 10, 1956, in Columbus, Kansas.
She worked for the Department of Commerce (Bureau of Census) for 24.5 years, then New Horizon for seven years.
She is survived by three daughters, Cathy Parsons (Bill) of West Mineral, Susan Crowley (Willie) of Pittsburg, and Karen Scott of Scammon; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Blackburn (John) of Boonville, Indiana; and nephew, Greg Burgar of West Baden, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Samuel E. "Sam" Jones, and her son-in-law, Stan Scott.
A visitation will be held on her birthday, Tuesday, Dec. 6, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Brenner Mortuary. Graveside services will be on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Hosey Hill Cemetery, with Reverend Jim Sukraw officiating.
